UK Guardianship
What is a Guardian?
- A guardian becomes your personal UK representative as soon as your child is in their care.
- They will act on your behalf, making sure your child is happy, healthy and safe whilst studying in the UK
- They are able to authorise medical treatment and other practical needs that your child may have
- Ensure your child’s welfare is attended to in all situations
So, now you know what a Guardian is but, what will they do?
They will:
- Welcome your son or daughter at the airport
- Arrange transport to their school (if required)
- Take them to their school and see them settled in
- Offer a choice of host families for your child to stay with during half term and at term start/end
- Attend school functions (when requested)
- Look after your child's interests if a medical or other emergency arises during term-time
- Organise transport needs during term time, and at other times as required
and most importantly ...
- Be on the end of a telephone, fax and/or e-mail for you or your child if there is a worry or problem, or if they simply just want to talk
All clients and host families of Edinburgh Guardian Angels are:
- Vetted by Edinburgh Guardian Angels & Disclosure Scotland
- have necessary police checks
- are registered with the appropriate bodies where applicable (e.g. The Care Inspectorate)
- Children will be placed with caring families during holidays and treated like a member of the Masters family whilst residing in Scotland.
